Presentation Description: Drawn by high-paying manufacturing jobs and inexpensive land, thousands of people from all over Europe and the United States, including the Deep South, New England, New York, and Pennsylvania, migrated to Michigan during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. This session, aimed at researchers whose ancestral trails extend to and from Michigan, will explore these migration patterns and provide an overview of the rich and abundant genealogical resources available in print and online.
Presenter Bio: A Senior Archivist at the Archives of Michigan, where he specializes in family history and Michigan research, Kris has worked in the genealogical community for more than 20 years. He is a former Vice President of Membership for the Federation of Genealogical Societies and a Past President of the Mid-Michigan Genealogical Society.
IMPORTANT NOTE for members planning to renew your membership at the meeting: Due to the rules and regulations of Plymouth District Library no money can change hands at library events so we cannot accept payment in person. Please renew your membership online or through the mail.
The Western Wayne County Genealogical Society meets on the third Monday of each month, September through May with the exception of December for the Membership Meeting, followed by a forum/social discussion and feature presentation.
